24-Scenic Design (SD) Requirements

24-SCENIC DESIGN (SD) REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ground Plan
    One (1) ground plan (1/2” = 1’0”) drawn by hand or drafted in Vectorworks using USITT graphic standards.

Points will be awarded based on neatness, lettering, knowledge of standard drafting techniques, and creative use of space.

  1. Model or Rendering
    One (1) rendering OR one (1) 1/2”=1’0” scale model.

Points will be awarded based on neatness, use of color and other mediums.

  1. Design Concept
    Typewritten design concept paper in separate folder (with entry tag) describing why specific choices were made related to color, style, texture and line of the design.

Points will be awarded based on clarity of choices and how they support the play, use of metaphor (i.e., symbols and imagery), sense of appropriate atmosphere, creativity and inventiveness, and risk.

  1. Presentation
    The student designer must deliver a presentation, either oral or PowerPoint of their design.

Points will be awarded based on the student designer’s ability to describe the design and his/her artistic choices. The student designer should be clear, concise, and confident in order to deliver an effective oral presentation. Student should specify if their design is for a virtual or live theatrical audience.
