Acting for Film (17)

RULES

  1. All selections must be from motion picture screenplays of film or television productions from 1970 or later. Selections from stage plays, short stories, novels, periodicals, original works, or compilation books such as ‘Scenes & Monologues They Haven’t Heard’ will NOT be permitted.
  2. Entries may be of any genre and will be evaluated on the acting for film technique.
  3. Two person scenes must be from one continuous scene. Cutting and pasting of dialogue from different scenes is NOT permitted. Editing of the performance will NOT be permitted.
  4. Selections from musicals may NOT be used in Monologue or Ensemble categories.
  5. Performers should be appropriately framed, excluding unnecessary overhead  or floor space and/or unnecessary background.
  6. All video submissions will be viewed by evaluators on competition days and therefore must be submitted 1 week prior to the festival’s opening day.
  7. Slate should be formatted as a title slate where each actor’s character is listed in relation to their character and which side of frame they will be on so notes can be given by name.

Please use the following instructions for titling your video and release form submissions.

  • Competition videos – Festival Entry ID Number (e.g., 246-10-01)_Title of Piece. Example: “246-10-01_Forrest Gump
  • Release forms: Participant name _Festival Entry ID Number (e.g., 246-10-01) Example: “Camille Chartier_246-10-01

17-Acting for Film – Dramatic or Humorous (AFF)
Entries Per School: 1 entry
Maximum Time Limit: Monologue – 45 seconds/2 person scene – 3 minutes
Cast Size: 1-2
Scripts must be published no earlier than 1970.
