What’s New For HSTF 2024?

We have moved to a tech, design and workshops centered festival for 2024!

The decision has been made to restructure the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival for 2024. Due to staffing shortages, budget cuts, enrollment hurdles, and other unforeseen challenges, the High School Theatre Festival will exclusively host competition for technical theatre components, including our beloved Tech Olympics and design entries for adjudication, as well as workshops. All performance competition have been suspended for the time being as the festival is restructured.

We have lowered the cost for a school to participate.

The school fee has gone down to $150 while the student fee has remains at $50 per person.

Schools can attend without participating in the tech or design competition.

Schools may attend both days of the festival to observe Tech Olympics/Design Competition and participate in workshops. Schools should apply between December 1st, 2023 and January 15th, 2024 and submit the $150 school fee (no student fees necessary) and submit a Certificate of Insurance and Endorsement by the due date.

Students may participate in Saturday’s workshops for free with a parent or guardian.

Individual high school students and their parent/guardian are encouraged to join us on Saturday March 23rd, 2024 and participate in all available workshops regardless of school participation. This will be  at no cost to the participating student.

Schools that register to participate in the festival will be able to pre-register for workshops.

All students with schools that have registered and paid the school fee will have the opportunity to sign up for workshops. Students that attend without a registered school will be able to sign up for workshops on a first come first serve basis when they check in on Saturday.

Schools can compete with more Tech Olympics teams.

Schools can register up to four (4) teams of five (5) students.

Students can participate in more design categories.

Each student can participate in up to four (4) design categories.

There are new design categories this year.

We have added Sound Design, Stage Management, and a team design for an unrealized production. Please check out the competition categories page for more information.

Schools paying the registration fee will be offered free tickets to “9 to 5”.

If a school is paying to participate in the festival, they will be offered free tickets to see Fullerton College’s production of “9 to 5” in the evening of March 22nd and 23rd, 2024. Tickets will be available to all others at a discounted rate.
